Life Legacy


Douglas J. Holland, 56, of Deer Park Township, died Thursday, October 17, 2013 at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 21, at St. Mary’s Church in Utica, with Msgr. James Swaner, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Deer Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Liturgical Prayers at 1:30 p.m.

Douglas was born on February 6, 1957 in Ottawa, to Daniel and Iris (Munson) Holland. He was an Arbitrator for the Illinois Workers Compensation Commission for 28 years. Douglas was a graduate of Sangamon State University. He married Mary Aubry on June 16, 1979 at St. Mary’s Church in Utica. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and President of the LaSalle County Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, 3 children, Nathan (Brittani) Holland, of Deer Park TWP, Amanda (David) Carter, of Peru and Michael (Courtney) Holland, of Chicago, brothers Daniel J. Holland and Dennis (Patti) Holland, mother and father-in-law Harold and Margaret Aubry, of Utica, brothers and sisters-in-law; David (Sheryl) Aubry, Stephen (Carol) Aubry, Daniel (Darci) Aubry, Kathleen Farrell, Joan (Dale) Graham and Paul (Chris) Aubry and Honorary Parents Betty Wagner and Ted and Anna Lou Lambert.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Judith Holland Johnson and Brother-in-law Timothy Farrell.

Pallbearers will be Ronald Davis, William Poutre, Gary Small, James Holland, John Pohar and Donald Wagner.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Edmund B. Thornton, Gary Gearhart, Gary Marincic, Tom Weiss and Kevin Chalfant.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the LaSalle County Historical Society (Northern Partners Building Project).
