J. Emmett Cantlin, 87, of Rural Earlville, died Tuesday Evening, April 19, at the Mendota Community Hospital.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 25 at St. Theresa Church in Earlville with the Rev. Chris G. Haake, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Emmett was born March 29, 1924 in Ottawa to John C. and Laura (Hughes) Cantlin. He married Linda Pucci on February 23, 1946 at St. Marys Church in Utica. He farmed and owned and operated E. Cantlin Trucking until his retirement. He was a member of St. Theresa Church in Earlville, Mendota Elks Lodge, Mendota Knights of Columbus, Teamsters Local Union in LaSalle and the LaSalle County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; one son, Wayne (Barb) Cantlin of Earlville; two daughters, Janet Lane of West Chicago and Judith (Tim) Cantlin Ho of Boston, MA; three grandchildren, Rob Doughty, Kim Knap and Jodi McDermith; five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, John Wayne Cantlin; one sister, Helen Cantlin and one brother, Harland Cantlin.
Pallbearers will be Tim Ho, Tom Knap, Dustin McDermith , Jack and Gary Cantlin and Rob Doughty. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim and Joe Cantlin.
