Life Legacy


Shannon Everett, 37, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday evening, April 17, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Sherry Stevenson, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church before the service. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Shannon was born November 1, 1974 in Ottawa to Sam R. and Sandra Lynn (Sturdivant) Smith. She was a 1992 graduate from Ottawa Township High School. She graduated from Illinois Valley Community College Nursing School in 1996. She married Bradley Everett on December 27, 1997 in Washington, IL. She was active in the children’s ministry at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister who enjoyed traveling with family and friends.

She is survived her husband, Bradley of Ottawa; two children, Samantha and Jackson of Ottawa; her parents, Sam R. and Sandra L. Smith of Ottawa; Paternal grandmother, Josephine Smith of Golden, IL; two brothers, Scott and Caleb Smith of Ottawa; two sisters, Crystal (Daniel) Hinman of Ottawa and Cynthia Smith of Dalton; and many close friends and relatives that she considered as brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Henry and Ethel Sturdivant and her paternal grandfather, Rev. Jack Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott and Caleb Smith, Todd Sturdivant, Dan Smith, Cory Dorsey and Paul Johnson.

Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
