Robert B. Hatter, 92, of Ottawa died on Saturday night, June 7, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11,in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. Grace Oh, pastor of Evangelical United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery where Full Military Rites will be conducted. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

Robert was born on February 28, 1922, in North English, Iowa to Murrell Knight and Rose C. (Bauer) Hatter. He was an Army-Air Corps Veteran of WWII and a decorated fighter pilot, serving in the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He was a member of the 359th Fighter Group and the 368th Squadron, and achieved the Rank of Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves. He was a graduate of Quincy High School, and graduated from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He retired in 1984 as Comptroller and Budget Director at Northwestern University in Evanston

Bob married Shirley A. Johnson on March 16, 1949 at the Howes Memorial Chapel in Evanston. He was a member of Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ottawa, American Legion Post 33, Occidental Lodge No. 40 A.F. and A.M., Mohammed Temple, and the Earlville Country Club.

He is survived by one daughter, Lynn H. Webster, of Indianapolis, one son Robert B. (Kathy) Hatter, Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Robert B. Hatter, III, and Lara Webster; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Bailey Dugger.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, on May 22, 2006, and two sisters, Helen Peterson and Maxine Smith Wade.
