Harold W. Willmer, 88, of Peru, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru with Rev. Carl Hammer, pastor of the First Congregational Church, Peru officiating. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Memories Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, LaSalle. Full military rites will be conducted by the Peru Veterans Memorial Group. Visitation will be 9-11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Willmer was born June 13, 1930 in Spring Valley to Harold and Hulda (Leggett) Willmer. He was a graduate of Hall High School, Class of 1948. He married Marlene Dobrydnia on February 10, 1955 in Spring Valley. Mr. Willmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army from November 15, 1951 to November 17, 1953 and served during the Korean War. He worked as a tool and die maker at Westclox until they closed and then at Bassicks and Hobbs. He was a member of the Peru American Legion Post 0375, AARP and the Westclox Quarter-Century Club. Survivors include two children, Barry (Tina) Willmer of Spring Valley and Rhonda Willmer of Peru; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene on February 20, 1997; his parents and his sister, Ann Louise Willmer on December 2, 2012. Pallbearers will be Barry Willmer, Brian Ratkiewicz, David Ponsetti, Jett Ponsetti and Jared Willmer. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
