Obituary for Arlene Waytenick

Arlene B. (Smith) Waytenick, 84, of Peru, passed away Tuesday morning, November 20, 2018 at her home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at St. Joseph's Church, Peru with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek, OSB officiating.  Burial will follow in Peru City Cemetery.  Visitation will be 9-11:00 AM Saturday in the church.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home, Peru. Mrs. Waytenick was born May 2, 1934 in Dimmick Township to Charles V. and Alvina (Jordan) Smith.  She married James Waytenick on June 1, 1984 in Ottawa.  She worked as a security guard at LaSalle-Peru High School.  Arlene was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Peru and was an avid Cubs fan. Survivors include her husband, James of Peru; her children, Pamela McMillan of Virginia Beach, VA, Janet Ajster of Peru, Richard Koontz of Windsor Heights, IA and one stepson, Joshua Waytenick of LaSalle; six grandchildren, Gina Burch, Jason Gedraitis, RJ Koontz, Mandy Heng, Nicole Pearson and Corinne Washburn; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and one brother, Curtis Smith of Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters and three brothers. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and stepson. Memorial contributions may be directed to IVCH Hospice or to the donor’s choice.
