Art Mueller was educated at Drake University and Worsham College of Mortuary Science and has been a licensed funeral director since 1977. He has been active in the community serving on the Ottawa Township High School Board of Education, the Board of Governors of Community Hospital of Ottawa, and the Board of Directors of Ottawa Savings Bank. He is an Ambassador in the Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Ottawa Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow, the Ottawa Elks Club, and the Ottawa Moose Lodge.

Art, and his wife, the former Ellen Zandecki, of LaSalle, have two children; Greg, a Funeral Director with this firm, and Megan, a Senior Sales Manager at the New Orleans Marriott.

They reside in Ottawa.

Greg Mueller is the third generation of the Mueller family to join the firm. He graduated from Carl Sandburg College with a degree in Mortuary Science. Greg is a member of St. Joseph's Church, Peru and a board member of St. Joseph's Cemetery Association. He has a son, Grady and resides in LaSalle.

Jason is a graduate of Kishwaukee College, Northern Illinois University and Worsham College of Mortuary Science. He has been in funeral service since 2005 and has been with the Mueller family since 2010. He is also a licensed insurance agent.

Jason and his family are active at St. Patrick's Church, LaSalle and are members of the Cedar Point Sportman's Club. At church, Jason serves in leadership roles in youth and men's ministry and he also sings in the choir.  Jason is also a member of the Peru Rotary Club. 

Jason and his wife, Jonda reside in Peru with their two children, Jack and Lucy Joy, and their dog, Violet.

She has been in funeral service since 1997, currently holds a funeral director and embalmers license in three states and is a licensed insurance agent. She has been with the Mueller Family since 2009.

Stephanie and her family are members of St. Patrick’s Church, LaSalle and she is also a member of LaSalle Rotary Club, the Starved Rock Runners Club and Starved Rock Cross Fit.

Stephanie resides in LaSalle with her three children, Allyn Leigh, Pippa Rose and Duke Charles.

Allison is a graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. She grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Wilmington High School, Class of 2016. She has been active in the funeral industry since 2015, and served her apprenticeship with the Mueller Funeral Homes. Allie is now a full-time licensed funeral director with the Mueller family.

Allison resides in Oglesby with her feline baby, Rex. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, Ryan, and taking trips to Michigan. She is the youngest of three to Terry and Carrie Anderson, with two older brothers, Tyler (Taylor) and Nicholas (Katie).

Hope moved to the Illinois Valley area in 2012 to be closer to her parents. She is the youngest of three children and resides locally with her dog, Halo.


Prior to joining our family at Mueller Funeral Homes, Hope spent several years on the leadership team of a local non-profit. She was instrumental in building the foundation of a new location, management of volunteers, donations, and sales operations. She also was the Outreach Coordinator, connecting with several churches, businesses, and individuals within our community. She is a strong believer in providing a hand up to those in need.


Hope brings a compassionate commitment to helping others in their time of need with a jovial smile and caring heart. As our Family Care Coordinator, she will gently provide Aftercare, guiding your loved ones through the journey of grief care. She also looks forward to guiding you through the pre-arrangement process, giving you peace of mind and the ability to provide your loved ones with the wonderful lasting gift of your love. She is also a licensed insurance and real estate agent.

Becky grew up in Peru and is a graduate of Peru Catholic School, LaSalle-Peru High School and Illinois Valley Community College.  She currently lives in LaSalle with her husband, Grant and their dog, Oscar.  They are members of St. Mary's Church in Utica.  Becky started her career in retail, at the Peru Mall, working at Stuart's and Marianne's.  She then worked as the Human Resource Midwest District Manager for MetoKote.  Later, she went to work with her husband, Grant at his family's 50-year business, Gay's Body Shop in Ottawa.  Becky and Grant were fortunate to retire early in 2018 and she began working with the Mueller family in 2021.  Becky enjoys traveling, cooking and flower gardening and she loves dogs.

Fran (Prey) Morrison Prey-Mueller Funeral Home

Fran Morrison is a graduate of Illinois Valley Community College and Northern Illinois University.  She is a retired teacher, having worked in the Oglesby Public Schools for 34 years.  She was married to the late Dennis M. Morrison and they are the parents of two daughters, Vanessa and Alissa.

Fran was active in the funeral business when her parents, William and Rose Ann Prey owned and operated the funeral home and she continues to be active, assisting the Mueller family.  She is a member of the Slovenian Union of America, American Legion Auxiliary Post 237, Dickinson House Foundation and Holy Family Church.

Bill Bender Funeral Attendant

Bill was born in North Dakota, raised in California and moved to the Peru area in 1964.  He was educated at El Camino College in California and Illinois Valley Community College in architectural design and civil engineering.  He retired from Chamlin and Associates Engineering in Peru in 2010 after 38 years.  Bill also served as sexton of St. Joseph's Cemetery for over 30 years and is past-president of the St. Joseph's Cemetery Association.  Bill is a member of St. Joseph's Church in Peru.

Bill lives in Webster Park, Spring Valley with his wife Phyllis.  They have five children, 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren

Bill has been a funeral attendant at Mueller Funeral Homes since 2010.

Susan is a lifelong resident of Ottawa.  She was married to the late Ed Condron and together they have two sons and two granddaughters.  She has been with Mueller Funeral Homes since 2007.

Callie retired from Illinois Valley Community Hospital (now St. Margaret's Health, Peru) in 2018 after working 40 years as a registered nurse.  She continues at St. Margaret's volunteering as a Red Coat.  She enjoys golfing, reading, traveling and loves spending time with her grandkids.

Callie resides in Peru with her husband, Jack and their two dogs.  She has three children and seven grandchildren.

Jonathan Freeburg Funeral Attendant

After spending twenty years in the insurance industry, Jonathan received his calling to funeral service late in life. “The insurance industry was very good to me and I loved every minute of it but never felt it was a calling. Through a set of circumstances, including losing both my parents, I had an overwhelming sense that I was being called to help and work with hurting people at one of their lowest points in life.” Jonathan was planning to begin his studies at the Worsham College of Mortuary Science during the Spring 2020 semester but due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, he will now begin in Spring 2021.

Jonathan and his wife, Robin raised their two daughters in Ottawa but now enjoy being empty nesters. A huge football fan, Jonathan cheers for the Bears, the Fighting Irish and will watch just about any football game on television.

Frank is a lifelong resident of Peru.  He is a graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Business Administration.  He has been a salesman in the office supply and furniture industry for 30 years and has assisted the Mueller family since 2005.

Mark is a graduate of Western Illinois University and holds a degree in Law Enforcement Administration.  He is a retired Sergeant with the LaSalle County Sheriff's Department with 28 years of service to LaSalle County.

Mark is a lifelong resident of Ottawa where he resides with his wife, Mary.  They have two children, Nathan and Lindsey.

Jim is a lifelong resident of Peru.  He attended LaSalle-Peru High School, L-P-O Junior College, Illinois Valley Community College and Illinois State University.  Jim retired from LaSalle-Peru High School where he taught mathematics for 32 years.  Following retirement, he began helping part time in the Math Learning Center and tutoring area at Illinois Valley Community College.

Jim is a member of Zion Church in Peru where he serves as organist and choir director.

Jim has been a funeral attendant at Mueller Funeral Homes since 2003.

Rick was born in Galesburg and grew up in nearby Knoxville. He is an alumnus of Augustana College in Rock Island. Following graduation, Rick worked for two years for the Bi-State Planning Commission in Rock Island before relocating to Springfield, Illinois to accept a position with the State of Illinois.

He worked over 30 years for the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency. During his time in Springfield, he also worked part-time in the sports department of the State Journal-Register.

Rick accepted early retirement from the State in 2008, and began working in 2009 on a part-time basis for Kirlin, Egan & Butler Funeral Homes in Springfield.

Rick has been with Mueller Funeral Homes since relocating to the LaSalle-Peru area in 2013. He is active in the Red Coat program at St. Margaret's Health - Peru, and volunteers at the Hegeler-Carus Mansion. Rick also works part-time in the art department at Illinois Valley Community College.

Rick and his wife, Alyce, reside in LaSalle.

Lynn Perry Funeral Attendant

Lynn is the second generation in her family to assist the Mueller family.  She grew up in Lostant and remembers her father, Lyndon Phillips helping A. Charles Mueller when he opened the Lostant funeral home in 1962.

Lynn began a 37 year career in obstetrical nursing, following her graduation from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Peoria.  She retired from managing the OB department at Illinois Valley Community Hospital (now St. Margaret's Health, Peru) in 2008.

Lynn resides in Oglesby with her husband, Lee.  She is the mother of two daughters, Nichole Kroncke and Michelle Wolf and has four grandchildren.  Lynn is a member of Grace United Methodist Church in LaSalle.

Jeanette is a lifelong resident of LaSalle and has over 28 years of service to the LaSalle School District.  She is a member of St. Patrick's Church in LaSalle.  Jeanette is married to Mickey and they have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Mickey is a lifelong resident of LaSalle.  He is a graduate of LaSalle-Peru High School and attended Illinois Valley Community College.  He was one of the original employees of Peru Motor Co., worked in the body shop industry for over 30 years and served as a LaSalle policeman.  Mickey enjoys fishing and hunting, especially duck hunting.  He also enjoys working on classic cars and has fond memories of his '61 and '66 Corvettes and his membership at the South Shore Boat Club in Peru.  Mickey is a member of St. Patrick's Church in LaSalle.  He is married to Jeanette and they have two daughters and three grandchildren.

Gayle resides with her farmer husband, Dave in Farm Ridge Township.  They have one son and are proud grandparents of two granddaughters who are both in the United States Air Force.

Bill is a lifelong resident of LaSalle-Peru and retired from Peru Public Schools after 23 years in August 2017.  He resides in Peru with his wife, Eileen, and they have a son, Jeff in Nashville, IL and a daughter, Lisa, in Chicago.  Bill is a graduate of St. Bede Academy.  He has been a funeral attendant with Mueller Funeral Homes since December 2017.

Bill is a lifelong resident of LaSalle-Peru and retired from Peru Public Schools after 23 years in August 2017.  He resides in Peru with his wife, Eileen, and they have a son, Jeff in Nashville, IL and a daughter, Lisa, in Chicago.  Bill is a graduate of St. Bede Academy.  He has been a funeral attendant with Mueller Funeral Homes since December 2017.
