Charles Marchiori, 94, of LaSalle, passed away Wednesday morning, January 2, 2019 at the Illinois Veterans’ Home-LaSalle  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 in St. Hyacinth’s Church, LaSalle with Rev. Gregory Jarzombek, OSB officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery in LaSalle with full military rites conducted by the LaSalle- Oglesby Veteran’s Group.  Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby. Charles was born on November 10, 1924 in LaSalle to Adolpho and Maria (Battaglia) Marchiori .  He married Emily Kosem on November 8, 1947 in St. Roch’s Church, LaSalle.  He served in the Navy during WWII.  Chuck retired from Bakelite in Ottawa after 40 years of employment.  He was a member of St. Hyacinth’s Church, LaSalle and the LaSalle VFW. After retirement his life revolved around his daughter and her family.  He found great enjoyment from attending his granddaughter’s activities and performances.  He was a constant presence in their lives for which they are grateful. The family expresses appreciation for the care and treatment by the many medical professionals and especially the LaSalle Veteran’s Home, his final residence. He is survived by his daughter, Lynda (Claude) McKibben of Rochelle; granddaughters’, Sarah (Jonathan) Black of Blacksburg, VA and Anne (Colin) Holbrook of Philadelphia, PA; great-grandchildren, Emily, Elizabeth and Ethan Black; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents; his wife, Emily, on May 7, 2016; and one sister, Delphine Mazzetti. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Illinois Veterans’ Home-LaSalle or to St. Hyacinth’s Church, LaSalle.
